Meet Our Team

Sophie Ruffer Founder & Lead Physiotherapist

BSc (Hons), MCSP, HCPC

Hi, I'm Sophie. I've been a physiotherapist for 27 years, and I absolutely love what I do. After 15 years working in the NHS, I set up The Good Therapy Group in 2018 to bring caring, high-quality physiotherapy directly into people's homes. Seeing firsthand the devastating impact that falls can have on people's lives inspired me to develop a particular interest in helping older adults stay steady, confident and independent for as long as possible.

To support this work, I gained additional qualifications in falls prevention and trained as a Postural Stability Instructor. Seeing the genuine difference our work makes to people's lives brings me great joy. When I'm not working, I love spending time with family and friends, exploring new places, teaching yoga and getting creative. I am happiest outdoors, and animals have always been a big part of my life. Alongside my physiotherapy work, I run art clubs in care homes and enjoy leading creative workshops at retreats and festivals.

Georgia O’Driscoll

Physiotherapist

BSc (Hons), MCSP, HCPC

I graduated from the University of Brighton in 2019 with a First-Class Honours degree in Physiotherapy. In 2026, I completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Clinical Practice at Brunel University, achieving a distinction.
I currently work within both the NHS and the private sector. Throughout my career, I have gained experience across a wide range of specialities, including orthopaedics, neurology, respiratory care, general surgery, intensive care, care of the elderly, paediatrics, and musculoskeletal and pelvic health physiotherapy.

Working across these diverse clinical areas has provided me with a broad skill set and a holistic approach to assessment and treatment. This enables me to effectively manage a wide range of conditions and tailor treatment plans to each individual's needs and goals.

Since the age of 10, I have known I wanted to become a physiotherapist. I have always been passionate about sport, fascinated by science, and motivated by helping others. Physiotherapy combines all of these interests perfectly. I genuinely love my profession and feel privileged to help people improve their quality of life, regain confidence in their bodies, and return to the activities that matter most to them.

I strongly believe that staying active is one of the most important things we can do for both our physical and mental wellbeing. My aim is always to empower patients with the knowledge, confidence, and tools they need to achieve their goals and maintain long-term health.

I would describe myself as friendly, approachable, and optimistic. Outside of work, I enjoy going to the gym, walking along the seafront, and spending quality time with friends and family.

Matt Tofilski

Physiotherapy Practitioner

I completed my Physiotherapy training in 2003 and have worked in the health industry for the past 22 years. First, for The Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust and then for the NHS. I also obtained my Diploma in 2006 which helped me to broaden the skills and treatment I can offer patients. For the last 13 years , I have mainly worked in elderly care  and post-operative rehabilitation.

Throughout my career I have worked with a variety of patients, from young soldiers in the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Unit to older patients who suffer with mobility and balance problems. I feel that working with patients, enabling them to improve and seeing them achieving their goals through therapy is the greatest reward in my line of work.

I have been active all my life, I started skiing at the age of six and played basketball since I was ten years old and I continue that now. I believe that movement is one of the most underappreciated medicines we have at our disposal.

In my spare time, I enjoy doing pilates, cooking and spending time with my family.

Scott Burnet

Physiotherapy Practitioner

Hi, I’m Scott.

I’ve spent the past 27 years helping people recover from injuries, improve strength and flexibility, and stay active and independent.

For the past 8 years, I’ve been working with Sophie at The Good Therapy Group, supporting older adults in nursing homes, community groups, and private sessions.

I offer rehabilitation after injury or falls, gentle exercise to build strength and mobility, and to ease tight muscles and support wellbeing.

Every session is tailored to your individual needs, helping you feel confident, capable, and comfortable in your body.

Outside of work, I love being outdoors, exploring car boot sales, keeping fit and cooking.

Melanie (Mel) Wakeham

Falls Prevention Instructor Hello, my name is Mel, and I am a fitness instructor specialising in strength, balance and falls prevention. I qualified as a Fitness and GP Referral Instructor in 2011 and have many years of experience delivering exercise programmes for people living with long-term health conditions.

Working within community well-being services across Sussex, I have helped many people improve their health, confidence and independence through regular exercise. In 2019, I gained an additional qualification as a postural stability instructor (PSI); this enabled me to expand my work to include specialist strength, balance and falls prevention classes, which have since become my main area of interest and expertise. Before moving into fitness instruction, I worked as a Registered General Nurse for almost 30 years in both Accident and Emergency departments and GP surgeries across Sussex. My nursing career inspired a lasting passion for helping people improve their health, well-being and quality of life through movement and exercise.

One of the most rewarding parts of my work is seeing people growing in confidence, improving their physical abilities and continuing doing the things that matter most to them. Outside of work, I enjoy live music, festivals, gardening and travelling. Exercise remains an important part of my own life, and you'll often find me at a fitness class, out walking my dog or taking part in the occasional Parkrun.
